ITIL V3- the widely accepted and modern approach to IT Service Management


The service rendered by Information Technology to the business or such enterprise has reached a height where no business or enterprise can flourish without efficient and competent IT Service Management. A beneficial and methodological approach is needed to IT Service Management for advancement of the business. ITIL is one such framework of knowledge and is a widely adopted and accepted set of practices in IT Service Management. It generally provides an outline of how to administer IT services with a focus on the improvement of quality of the delivered service. The ITIL V3 is the latest version of ITIL which consists of the primary set of five publications, the core foundation of the ITIL. The ITIL V3 has replaced the previous concept of ITIL with a much more simplified and logical approach. The ITIL V3 provides much clearer direction to provide service.

The ITIL V3 has made the path of certification more easy and modular. There are four levels of the ITIL Certification- Foundation, Intermediate, Expert and Master. Candidates passing the ITIL Foundation are awarded a certification with two credits and are qualified for the next level which is the Intermediate. Candidates can choose from a “Lifecycle” stream or “Capability” stream, passing of the module and exam of any of the two will be rewarded with three or four credits respectively. The final level of ITIL Certification is the Expert where candidates need a total of 22 credits to apply. From the ITIL Foundation and Intermediate exams 22 or 23 credits can be earned which can be used in the Expert level. The passing of the Expert exam will be awarded with the highest qualification of the ITIL Certification and professionals can use the abbreviation of ITIL Expert. The Master level does not include any exams or certification but practical work experience has to be reviewed by a panel of experts to permit the designation of ITIL Master. This is the path of ITIL Certification as provided by the ITIL V3.
A large number of online ITIL Training centers provide guidance on the ITIL exams. These ITIL Training centers provide a time bound ITIL Training Course imparting adequate knowledge and techniques on ITIL V3. Only after completing the ITIL Course candidates can sit for the exams. Various examination bodies accredited by the APM Group conduct the ITIL Certification and exams. ITIL Training organizations are generally accredited by these examination and certification bodies. With various organizations reaping huge benefits by adopting ITIL in their IT Service Management, ITIL is gaining worldwide attention. Thus earning the ITIL Certification in the present economic climate is an appreciative choice. The ITIL Certification earned by undertaking an ITIL Training Course demonstrates your bankability, knowledge and experience in the application of ITIL in IT Service Management.
